This is a great start for simple home projects. Each student will be shown how to create a two colour print onto A4 card using paper stencils. The first layer will show participants how to use paper as a blocker and the second will show students how to use simple stencilling techniques. You will go away with your own print to remember the session!

What you need to bring:

Students will have to provide their own aprons or protective clothing. If you wish to print onto anything specific you need to also bring that. We will be providing pre-cut stencils due to time restraints, however, you can bring your own templates if you have a strong desire to print your own design.

Screen Printing Definition:

Method in which ink is applied directly to the surface to be printed (substrate). The image to be printed is photographically transferred to a very fine fabric (the screen) such that the non-printing areas are blocked off and the fabric serves as a stencil. The ink is wiped across the screen to pass through the unblocked pores and reach the substrate. For each color to be printed a separate screen is prepared and the process is repeated. It is more suitable for curved shapes (such as bottles and cups), non-porous surfaces (such as ceramics and metals), and short print runs. Also called serigraphy.
